Environmental Impact and Management
Aims
The aim of this assignment is to provide students with the opportunity todemonstrate a thorough understanding and appreciation of environmental management systems, their advantages and disadvantages.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the project the student should:
Have gained detailed knowledge of the issues addressed;
Have gained improved understanding of the impact of humanactivity on the environment;
Understand the importance of effective management of environmental pollutants.
The Project
Critically analyse corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategies withincontemporary organisations, with a particular focus on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) frameworks, the Corporate Sustainability ReportingDirective (CSRD), Sustainability Reporting standards, and ISO14001Environmental Management Systems.
Students are expected to demonstrate an advanced understanding of howthese frameworks and standards are used strategically by organisations tomanage sustainability risks, ensure regulatory compliance, enhancetransparency, and create long-term value for stakeholders. The discussionshould move beyond descriptive explanation and engage in critical evaluation, comparison, and synthesis of theory, regulation, and practice.
